A focus group is a form of qualitative research. This is usually conducted as an interview or questionnaire in which a group of people are asked their opinions, attitudes and beliefs towards a concept, idea, advertisement or product.
We asked our participants to write down their answers to a series of questions, which we believe will be beneficial in the production of our music video.
We will interview both males and females in order to obtain a representative sample. By writing their answers down, we are avoiding the potential issue of their answers being influenced by their peers.
We asked our participants the following questions:
1) How does our song make you feel?
2) What do you think of the lyrics?
3) What video do you expect from the song?
4) Would you expect to see a narrative or performance?
5) What do you think would work best: Illustration, Amplification or Disjuncture?
6) What characters do you picture to feature in the video?
